Erich Schiffmann has been a great influence for Bruce, having attended two of his Teacher Training workshops in California. Bruce discovered the Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga system of Pattabhi Jois through attending a course here with David Keil; shortly after which he immersed himself in Ashtanga attending classes 6 days a week at the Ashtanga Yoga Research Institute in Mysore India for 3 months. Most recently Bruce attended a 5 day Ashtanga Intensive workshop in Vancouver, Canada with John Scott. Bruce focuses on helping people establish their own home practice, offering individualized classes to small groups of students. In addition to yoga, Bruce works in the IT industry, is a well-versed photographer and likes cats.
Candi Rowen was one of the first students in the Yoga Teacher Training Program at the Florida Institute for Integrated Yoga Studies, which began in 1998. Her cross-training background in almost every form of exercise informs her teaching style and keeps her focused on safety, through good form. Candi is both a licensed mental health professional and a certified family mediator - which is why she both enjoys yoga practice and needs yoga in her life.
Keli
discovered yoga 9 years ago and feels strongly committed to the
path. Keli merges her study and practice of many different styles
of Hatha Yoga into her classes. Holding a Master's Degree
in Counseling, Keli is continually fascinated by the transformational
aspects of yoga and the many unique ways student's lives are opened
and enhanced by the practice of yoga.
Linda has a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and has taught ballet, modern and lyrical in the St. Pete/Tampa area for twenty-eight years. She began her practice of hatha yoga in 1974 to compliment her dance training. She soon realized that the practice of yoga is much more than physical exercise; yoga is exercise for the spirit. Her practice and understanding of yoga deepened through the years and eventually matured into a desire to teach. She entered the teacher training program with the Florida Institute for Integrated Yoga Studies and received her teaching certificate in October of 2002. She is a FIFIYS training instructor who currently teaches the weekly Yoga Teacher Training class at the TreeHouse. Peggy
Abreu has been practicing
yoga for 35 years and teaching for 17 years. She has been
registered with the Yoga Alliance since 2001. She has served
as President, Vice-President and Treasurer of the Suncoast Yoga
Teachers Association and is currently on the Board of Directors.
She is currently studying the Triyoga system developed by Kali Ray
and is certified in Basics and Level 1. Peter Litchfield Peter
C. Litchfield has been studying and teaching the martial arts including
Tai Chi for over 27 years, and holds black belts in several arts
and a teaching certificate in Tai Chi Chuan. Peter teaches extensively
throughout the Tampa area in both private and group settings. So
no matter your age or skill level Peter's knowledge of Tai Chi Chuan
and Chi Kung will enable all his students' to understand the full
range of physical and mental benefits that accompany the study of
these ancient arts.
Rubén,
originally from Bogotá, Colombia, has enjoyed living and
traveling in different countries. Something that has remained constant,
however, is his love of yoga and his desire to share this knowledge
with others. Rubén integrates various types of yoga through
focus on attunement to the present moment. Rubén is especially
interested in creating a relaxing class in which each person feels
safe to practice fundamental yoga poses at her/his own level of
